Fuel Polishing and Conditioning for Diesel and Biodiesel…
…was not a common phrase in our industry until 2010 when the the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation obliged suppliers to include 5% renewable fuel in diesel sold in the UK
Introducing bio-fuels into diesel has bought about some serious fuel quality challenges. We manufacture a range of Fuel Polishers to ensure this does not affect you. quick link to bug basher data
FAME B5 (Fatty Acid Methyl Esters 5% biodiesel in 95% diesel) has made storage of diesel something we all now need to consider when we require good quality fuel. Fuel companies agree that if left untreated fuel will remain reliable for just 6–12 months and with higher levels of biodiesel now being added it is important to maintain the condition of the fuel.
Biodiesel has relatively poor oxidation stability which causes the fuel to biodegrade over time. This is amplified by poor handling and storage through the supply chain meaning that when blended it was to specification, but when you come to use it, this may no longer be the case. The result of this oxidation can include bacteria and sludge/sediments
Biodiesel is also hygroscopic (that is it attracts moisture) which can hydrolise creating a medium for the growth of bacteria. This results in further sludge/sediments and water. This microbial infestation is commonly called the “diesel bug”.
The presence of the sediment and water will undoubtedly cause many problems from long term damage to difficult or non starting and stalling of your engine/generator.
To make your fuel dependable and safe to use, you need a Pump Engineering Self Contained Fuel Polisher……”The Bug Basher”
With its integral pump, we filter out the sludge and sediment, remove the water and pass the fuel though a conditioner, ensure that when you need it most, your fuel is in perfect condition and ready to use. Fuel Polishing and Conditioning Biodiesel is and essential process in all tank storage facilities.
All you need to do is connect to your tank, add power and let our bug basher do its thing and overcome the diesel bug.
